Word of the Month - Using Gratitude to have a Positive Attitude

This week, we’re talking about actions that can help us maintain a positive attitude.

It’s easy to get sucked into an ugly spiral of negative thoughts, feelings and actions that leave you with a negative attitude. It may seem fated that you are a victim of bad luck, bad timing and bad breaks. But as internationally known speaker, Dr. Wayne Dyer, reminds us; “The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind.”

When we choose our attitude instead of allowing it to choose us, we will find that a positive attitude is attainable even during tough times and in the face of challenging obstacles.

What are some actions that you feel people can take to maintain a positive attitude?

One such “action” we can all easily take is showing more gratitude. Dr. Robert Emmons, in the book, The Psychology of Gratitude, says; “Gratitude is an appreciation of your life right now, versus where you want it to be.”

He mentions that people who write down the things they are grateful for every day have stronger immune systems, more happiness, and less reaction to negative events. How have you incorporated gratitude in your own life and how are you helping others to incorporate it into theirs?
